Memorial Day May Set A Record For Travel
The race to clear a path through Chinook Pass is underway and we are just a few days away from the unofficial start to summer-- Memorial Day. If highway travel is part of your three day weekend you may want to allow for some extra time.
AAA is predicting that 39.3 million Americans will hit the road, take a flight, or otherwise get out of town between Thursday, May 25th and Monday, May 29th. The AAA says that would be the highest level for Memorial Day in a dozen years!
Fox News reports we can expect to pay more in the process too. Airfares are up 9%, hotels up about 18% and car rental rates will see a 7% bump.
And regardless of what’s happening at the pump and gas prices, most U.S. travelers — about 34.6 million of us— will be reach our destination by car.
