Man Faces Charges After Shooting In Orchard Wounds Orchard Worker On Tractor

A 72 year old man is facing an assault charge after being arrested Saturday for a shooting that wounded a 59 year old man working in an orchard on Konnowac pass. Yakima County Sheriff's and Moxee Police responded to reports of a gunshot victim on the 200 block of Konnowac pass at about 1 Saturday afternoon. When they arrived they found a 59 year old man suffering from wounds to his face and neck. Deputies found the 72 year old suspect who lived nearby was upset with workers in a nearby orchard and fired shots from his residence. Deputies say a 44 year old man was nearly struck by one of the shots and the 59 year old victim who was operating a tractor was struck in the neck and face. The 72 year old suspect was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Yakima County Jail. The 59 year old victim was transported to Yakima regional for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
