Yakima Police have issued a second degree murder warrant for a man being held on a murder charge in Thurston County. Police spokesman Mike Bastinelli says they believe 20-year-old Dallas Martin of Bonney Lake shot 26-year-old Noel Moctezuma at an apartment on South 56th Avenue in February of 2017. Bastinelli says at the time of the Yakima shooting Martin was already facing a second degree murder charge in connection with the 2015 murder of a 19-year-old man in Thurston County. "Bail was originally set at $1 million but his attorney had it reduced and he got out. So he was out on bail when this one happened here in Yakima."
Bastinelli says the murder wasn't random and wasn't related to drugs or gangs. Police aren't yet saying why Martin was in Yakima and what his motive was in the shooting.
Because Martin is on trial in Thurston County it's not clear when he'll be returned to Yakima to face the murder charge.
