A 40-year-old man from Grandview is facing numerous charges after a high speed chase in the lower valley on Wednesday. Deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff's office were called to a home in the 1000 block of Monroe Street in the Mabton area for an armed man holding someone hostage in the home. As deputies were arriving the suspect was seen leaving the home with a woman. A deputy tried to stop the suspects vehicle but he took off leading authorities on a high speed chase. A news release says the pursuit continued into the city limits of Grandview where the female was able to safely get out of the suspect vehicle.  The suspect then continued to lead the police in a high speed pursuit which ended in the 3300 block of Tear Rd in the Sunnyside Area. The suspect then fled on foot and was taken into custody without further incident when located by the Benton County K9 and it’s handler.
The 40-year-old man from Grandview faces charges of burglary, unlawful possession of firearms, attempting to elude, malicious mischief, driving on a suspended license, and two outstanding arrest warrants.
