A 19-year-old man was arrested after fleeing from police in the lower valley after a reported stabbing on Saturday night. Yakima County Sheriff's deputies were called because of a stabbing reported at a home in the 800 blk of Blue Heron Rd. But the suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived. A vehicle matching the description of the vehicle stolen by the suspect near Conny Rd and SR 223.  When they attempted to stop the vehicle a pursuit was underway.

Law enforcement officers from the Yakama Nation Police Department, Granger Police Department, Mabton Police Department, Sunnyside Police Department, Zillah Police Department, Grandview Police Department, Washington Department of Fish and Game, Washington State Patrol and Yakima County Sheriffs Office all worked together to arrest the suspect.  Spike strips were used during the pursuit which came to an end when the suspect crashed the stolen vehicle at the intersection of SR241 and Van Belle Rd. The suspect was booked into the Yakima County Jail on charges of Eluding and Possession of a Stolen vehicle.

The 19-year-old suspect is an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation.  The stabbing and vehicle theft occurred within the boundaries of the Yakama Nation and those crimes are being investigated by the Yakama Nation and FBI.  At this time, no names are being released do to the ongoing multi agency investigation. The 56 year old victim was also treated at local hospital for non-life threatening wounds.
