Longtime Yakima City Leader Dies Services Are Being Planned

Many people in the community are remembering on Ron Bonlender today. The longtime Yakima city leader and local activist was found dead at his home on Friday afternoon. He was 68 years old. No word on what caused his death. Bonlender served one term on the Yakima City Council, was very active in local politics. He also owned and operated the Sub Shop chain restaurants. He was recently looking to get into politics once again by running for one of the positions established in the Home Rule Initiative. Bonlender was a longtime resident of Yakima and had been married to his wife, Kathi, for more than 40 years.
