Firefighters were busy in the Yakima Valley on Tuesday after a number of lightning strikes were reported. Officials with the Yakima Valley Emergency Management say they recorded 3,150 lightning strikes. As a result there were 32 calls for wildfires but no big fires are burning today. Officials say the firefighters responded quickly to the fires and that all were doused Tuesday night. Two homes in West Valley were hit by lightning, but firefighters were able to contain the fires before they caused major damage.
