Firefighters are gaining the upper hand on the Left Hand Fire burning 17 miles Northwest of Naches. The fire is now 55% contained at 3,459 acres. Fire managers say they have 645 personnel working the fire that was started by lightning in late July. All the Level 3 evacuation notices have been reduced to Level 2 "get set" notices. The existing Level Two area is unchanged along both sides of SR 410 from the Fire District 14 station #11 to the junction with Gold Creek Rd.
The department of Natural Resources says so far the price of fighting the fire is $6 million.
Officials say a cold front is moving in on early Friday morning which will bring increased winds, cooler temperatures, and a slight chance of some thunderstorms.
