There is no use in debating the wisdom here  and now because it is what it is but to note that it is done differently in different communities around the country.  I'm talking about the way Yakima County K-9 programs are financially supported for all the good work they do.  They way it works is community donation.   It's great that we do it, but shouldn't something with this kind of value be part of the general fund budget?

Just sayin'.

But let's talk about the next fundraiser coming up this Saturday evening at Tailgaters in Selah.  The event will run from 5 to 9 pm and let's not kid's going to be HOT.  Around 5 pm the temperature is expected to be around 105 degrees so dress accordingly, hydrate appropriately and bring lots of cold hard cash!

It's called Kome Out For K-9's and Tailgaters Bar & Grill is located at 110 East 3rd Avenue in the Viking Village in Selah.

Sheriff Bob Udell will be on the microphone as Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer.  We had a chance to see some of the really cool plush dog stuffed dogs that will be up for grabs and they are really neat.  They are wearing uniforms and doggles ( dog goggles) and the attention to detail is great.  They look read to leap into action sniffing out drugs, tracking fugitives or missing persons. search buildings for bad guys and even applying a little bit of K-9 persuasion if a suspect is not in a mood to cooperate..

The sheriff calls these amazing dogs "force-multipliers" because of their speed, strength, acute senses and training.  We need them in our community and we all can have a say in that by dropping off a donation and maybe grabbing a beverage or a meal at Tailgaters Bar & Grill in Selah this Saturday.
