National Night Out Brings Communities Together in Yakima
National Night Out is coming up, yes, nationally (and more importantly) locally in our areas of the Yakima Valley. When, where, and the purpose of National Night Out are detailed below!
National Night Out History
Kicking off in August of 1984 by Matt Peskin in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to help the relationships between communities and their local police and ballooned into the National celebration that we all of our neighbors are invited to participate in.
What To Expect At National Night Out

“Throughout the Yakima Valley and across the nation, communities will be throwing a 'going away party for crime' during the annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4th. In addition to numerous neighborhood block parties, several organizations and businesses will be sponsoring National Night Out events.”

- Louden Park (3600 3rd Street in Union Gap) from 5p to 7p.
- Wixson Park (216 S 3rd Street in Selah) from 6p to 8:30p.
- Parkland Block Party (1521 S. 1st Street in Sunnyside) from 5p to 8p.
- Toppenish Night Out & Community BBQ (28 Asotin Ave in Toppenish) from 5p to 7p.
- Granger Splash Park/Main City Park (Main Street & 3. 3rd Street in Granger) at 6p.
- Westside Park (W 2nd Street in Grandview) from 6p to 7:30p.
NOTE: Some places like Wapato are having their NNO on different dates
Get An Early NNO Start!
OIC of Washington is holding a jump start to National Night Out on Monday, August 3rd from 5:30p to 7:30p at the Henry Beauchamp Community Center at the Southeast Community Park, S 7th Street in Yakima.
