Free Stargazing Event Coming to Naches This September

Get ready to celebrate National Astronomy Day with a fun and free event coming up in the Yakima Valley! We have all the details below, plus info on how you could win a beginner telescope!

Too Much Light Pollution

I miss living away from the city, where I could actually see the stars! I grew up in Naches, and for many years I lived out on Summitview Ext. and was surrounded by apple and pair orchards.

It was so nice going out into my front yard, lying down on a blanket, and stargazing for hours at a time. Now that I’m older and have a house in the city, I don’t get to see the stars unless I take a road trip (which I tend to do more often lately).

Stargazing is a fun lost art/hobby/escape that younger generations don’t know about, and I’m happy that the Yakima Valley Libraries, with help from the Naches Valley School District and the Yakima Valley Astronomy Club, are putting on an event that you are invited to.

Astronomy Night In Naches With YVL!

Saturday, September 19th, from 7 to 9 pm, you’re invited to the Naches Valley High School Football Field (101 5th St) for Astronomy Night, a free and informative night of staring at the stars!
