There is truth to the saying that “you don’t rescue the pet; the pet rescues you.” I really know that to be the case. When I met my little dog Rusty, he ran up and jumped on me. I laughed, petted him, and got puppy kisses. When his owner came up to me, I joked about bartering for him, and they told me they were needing a new home for him. He’s been with my wife & I for almost 10 years. The same joy can happen to you.

They have posted pictures of many of the pets that will be at Petsmart, ready to go home with a new forever family, in the comments of their Facebook post. Looking through the pictures, it seems like this event will be mainly for puppies and kittens, but if you’re looking for a pet with a little less training needed, I’m sure they can accommodate.

The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccines, and a microchip.

If taking a new family home isn’t ideal for you at this time, you can still help out. The Yakima Humane Society is holding its food, toy, and supply drive all this month. For more information about what is needed, click here. And if you’re not in a place where you can financially help out, they can always use volunteers.
