Central Washington State Fair’s Hottest Activity Is Glassblowing

With the Central Washington State Fair in full effect, one of the hottest (figuratively AND literally) activities is the Ikonic Glass activities! We felt the heat, made some beautiful glass art, and have the pictures to prove it! Check them out below!

Ikonic Glass Glassblowing Experience!

If you don’t know about the art of glassblowing, you are in for a treat this year at the fair with Ikonic Glass! Glassblowing simply put, is forming a mass of molten glass into art using heat and tools. It’s hypnotizing, amazing, and a little nerve-racking at first.

Luckily, the crew at Ikonic Glass is there every step of the way. Caleb checked us in, while the instructor we worked with, who went by the name ‘Cornbread,’ taught the technique, educated us on the history and science of glassblowing, and helped us create beautiful pendants.

The whole experience took a little over 20 minutes, starting with checking in any belongings and loose clothing, watching a safety video, and then picking the design and colors for your glass art!

Signing up seemed to be the only tricky thing, but if you follow the instructions, it’s not tricky at all. Scan their QR code, pick an open time slot, and show up when your time is there. Check out some pictures of my wife creating her masterpiece!

The whole experience is free to anyone 10 years and older, and may quite possibly be my favorite part of this year’s Central Washington State Fair!

If you haven’t checked out Ikonic Glass in the FunVille zone (by the small animal pet barn) (check out the Fair Map here), make sure you do. If you did and created some amazing art, Tap the App and send us a picture! We’d love to see it!
