17-Year-Old Teen Fatally Shot After Altercation

Around 8:10 PM Wednesday night, Spokane County Deputies were called to an area on 16th street, near South Union Road in the Valley.

According to Deputies, a 17-year-old teen was in the street, and was threatening to harm himself. He was apparently blocking traffic.

At one during the incident, a car stopped because the teen was blocking them, and the youth got into the car.  It was occupied by the driver, and two adult females. The driver was armed, said the SCSO.

 The Teen Entered the Stopped Vehicle

The driver managed to get the teen to exit the vehicle, and then an altercation began. Details of that incident have not yet been released, but the SCSO says the driver ended up fatally shooting the teen.

The driver and the passengers were not hurt, the driver was detained by Deputies. According to the SCSO no arrests have been made yet, and the incident is still in the early stages of the investigation.

A friend who was walking with the teen before the incident was not hurt.
