Investigation Underway After Body Found Near Wapato

An investigation by the Yakima County Sheriff's office is underway after the discovery of a body Sunday near the Yakima River in the Wapato area. Authorities say the report of a body came from a man who discovered the remains on an island in the river near the Donald-Wapato Bridge. The man walked into the police department at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday to report the finding. An autopsy on the body is expected to happen on Tuesday.
