Facebook, texting, the internet and Mary the receptionist – all are potential office distractions that can impact productivity. But what about the sleep you got the night before? How does that affect your job performance? A new study shows that how much sleep you get the night before actually affects your productivity more than factors like how much you smoked, ate, or drank the day before. And we aren’t talking about a huge increase in sleep time.

U.K. researchers looked at information from more than 21,000 employees. They found that participants who slept for six hours or less weren’t just less productive but were remarkably less productive than those who got seven or eight hours' sleep.

Perhaps counter-intuitively , they also confirmed the amount workers smoke, eat and drink alcohol does not affect productivity.

Other factors that can have the biggest impacts on productivity include: having financial concerns, being underweight or overweight, being physically inactive, and showing symptoms of depression. (Daily Mail)
