Thanksgiving is a little more than 2 weeks away and many of the national news stories say how difficult it's going to be to find the fixings for the traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner and if you can find them, just how expensive they are going to be.  Have you seen that to be the case here....at Wray's, Freddie's, Safeway, Grocery Outlet, Rosaurs?

I don't have a turkey stuffed away and awaiting the day so maybe I'm out of luck?

How Best The Handle The Leftovers

Say it isn't so, because I'm already thinking about Thanksgiving leftovers!  They are just as good for the next few days after the big show and they come without the family members whose politics and commentary DRIVE ME NUTS!

According to Fox News, The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) says you should stash leftovers in shallow containers within two hours of cooking– and it’s ok if the food is still warm when you pack it up. You can keep cooked turkey in a fridge for three or four days, while leftover stuffing should be eaten or frozen within three or four days (when frozen it can last between two and three months).

Ok, that covers the first team but what about the subs, the other players, those dishes that are needed to round out the feast?  You know, what's the 4-1-1 on the yum, yum, yum!?

Gotta Preserve The Sides!

Potatoes, yams, and green beans, each last 3 to 4 days when stored in the fridge

Homemade cranberry sauce can be refrigerated for 7 to 10 days

Canned cranberry sauce can be refrigerated for 1 to 2 weeks after opening

Leftover gravy can stay in the fridge for 3 to 4 days, or in the freezer 4 to 6 months

Fruit-based pies - stored at room temperature for 1 to 2 days or 7 days in the fridge

Hey while we're talking about Thanksgiving grub you NEED to know this:  Krispy Kreme has three new dessert-inspired doughnuts in their Thanksgiving Collection:

Pretending And Still Being Awesome

The Pecan Pie Doughnut (Original Glazed Doughnut dipped in gooey pecan pie filling, candied pecans, and pie crust crumbles), You had me at "pecan"!

The Dutch Apple Pie Doughnut (filled with apple pie filling, dipped in caramel icing, topped with cinnamon, and decorated with an icing lattice)
