Hit and Run Suspect In Court On Felony Charges

A man accused in a hit and run crash in which a 14 year old girl was killed last Friday along Highway 97 is facing charges in Yakima County Superior Court today. Detectives with the Washington State Patrol arrested 21 year old Antonio Morfin for the February 4th killing of 14 year old Shaniah Jackson. Jackson and a 16 year old friend were crossing the highway at West Wapato Road when they were struck by the vehicle. The 16 year old was treated for minor injuries but Jackson died at the scene. Troopers say Morfin of Yakima turned himself in at the State Patrol office in Union Gap. Morfin is being held in the county jail on two counts of felony hit and run...one involving a death and another an injury.
