Health District, Hospital Helping People With Health Care
The Yakima Health District is working to help people who need medical care after the closure of Astria Regional Medical Center. The Executive Director of the Yakima Health District Andre Fresco says they want to ensure the community that there are resources to find needed care in the County. If you are looking for any kind of care Fresco says call the number 2-1-1 from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday and you'll be directed to a place for help.
During an appearance on KIT on Wednesday Virginia Mason Memorial CEO Russ Myers says they're now operating a new evening Healthy Now clinic in the hospital's Pavilion II building at 406 South 30th Avenue. The clinic is open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Two other clinics are also open at 120 South 72nd Avenue and 3909 Creekside Loop.
And while efforts are being made to help patients local and state officials are also looking for ways to help the more than 400 people left without jobs. A healthcare job fair is set for Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Valley Mall in Union Gap.
