If you would have asked me 30 years ago if, at 60-plus,  I would be in any way interested in information about Mattel’s “Barbie” I would have told you that I may have once had a brief passing interest in The Barbie Twins but certainly not the Barbie Doll! Well, what a difference a Gator makes. Katelyn Autumn Ettl is my 6-year-old “gator” girl and she loves her Barbie Dolls. I take her shopping for them, I help get them dressed when Mom is busy and I help pick them up when they take over the house.I love that kid and that means Barbie by extension, so yes, we are already looking forward to the Internet connected Barbie and the live-action Barbie movie.

Monday was National Barbie Day, celebrating the anniversary of  the day the Barbie Doll made its debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York in 1959.

It is estimated that over a billion Barbie dolls have been sold worldwide in over 150 countries -- none more welcome than those who call Gator’s room their home.
