Gunhots fired in area neighborhoods...it's something that keeps Yakima Police busy. The number of calls to police about shots fired is up about 12 percent from last year but the number of people being injured by gunfire is down 30 percent. Our News Partner KIMA Action News reports Many of the shots fired are gang related. Last year the department spent $4-million on gang suppression and prevention to pay for the gang unit, emphasis patrols and school resource officers. That's 20% of their overall budget.
