Grand Gesture -Christmas Cards For Seniors
Leah Glasenapp has a heart for Christmas and for our senior citizens and she has the energy to combine the two and bring us all along for the ride?
The Coronavirus constraints have isolated so many of our seniors. As Leah puts it, “So many seniors at this time cannot leave for the holiday or have visitors. I have thought a lot about all our senior citizens that are in permanent quarantine away from not only the outside world but loved ones. If we have felt the stress and loneliness of this pandemic I can’t imagine how they must feel! Alone and isolated is how many are feeling. Many are suffering mentally and physically .....If I could I would spend my days just sitting and visiting with them. But I know that isn’t possible so I thought how can I send them a little love and cheer this Christmas? How can I let them know someone is thinking of them"
And then she got the idea to invite us all to help.
"Would you join us in making cards, pictures or small crafts that can be distributed to local nursing homes to bring some Christmas spirit to those who can’t get out?"
So there's the invite for each of us, our kids, everyone, to purchase or produce Christmas cards with an uplifting "Hey we're thinking about you " kind of Holiday Message.
Like minded individuals are encouraged to visit Facebook to check out Christmas Cards for Senior Citizens. "The group is gathering homemade or store bought Christmas cards to distribute to those living in assisted living or nursing homes. So many are unable to have visitors and are missing seeing family. I can totally see our amazing Yakima community rallying behind this to bring happiness and joy to our elderly!"
