Dozens of volunteers came out on Saturday to help clean up the graffiti that displays itself regularly in Yakima, hoping that the effort will put a dent in the future manifestations of graffiti, reports KIMA-tv.

KIMA-tv says volunteers of all ages, including some Stanton Academy students came to clean up graffiti from commercial buildings to homes and they plan on holding the graffiti cleanups on a regular basis.

KIMA-tv reports that Yakima's Neighborhood Development program cleans  graffiti 5 days a week and will re-paint up to 25 senior-citizen homes where many have been tagged with graffiti.

The city of Yakima provided most of the paint for the volunteer project on Saturday, reports KIMA-tv, with residents appreciating the cleaner atmosphere provided by the volunteers.
