We used to call it "getting pumped up for the game".  We would listen to our favorite music on the bus, or in practice or in warmups before we played.  You see today's big time athletes doing the same only with a lot more expensive headphones!  Even Seahawk's quarterback Russell Wilson extolls the virtue of "his music" as part of his life.

It's all backed up by science too as research has shown that country music improves batting, rap music improves jump shots and running is improved by any up-tempo musi

But if your sport is golf, it won't matter what you're tuned in on as long as what you're tuned into is JAZZ,

While any kind of music improves performance compared to listening to no music at all, jazz is the most effective musical genre for improving putting, according to a number of researchers.

A multi-university research team followed 22 male and female NCAA Division I golfers with an average age of 20 and at least eight years of experience golfing. When these golfers listened to jazz, their putting significantly improved, compared to listening to no music or any other genre of music.

If this get's out, don't be surprised to hear a little Miles Davis or Ella Fitzgerald in the background as the best in the world aim for the pin and the green jacket!
