The National News is reporting that children's toys will be expensive and in short supply this Christmas.  The message is - Shop early and maybe lower expectations.  Ok, good advice. If you get a bunch of toys and are planning to fly to see the grandkids, the shopping advice is the same.  Start now and don't count on any last-minute deals.Hopper puts out an annual Holiday Travel Guidance Report. which says:domestic airfare for Christmas flights has already trended higher than 2019 levels at this time, priced more comparably to 2018, That means travelors can expect Christmas travel to run around $430/round-trip, airfare and that's up 71% from 2020 .

Fox News reports the lowest prices are very likely available right now. That's according to the flight-tracking experts at Hopper, "For those ready to book, take advantage of the cheapest fares available now, particularly for the Christmas holiday,

Turkey Day Travel Costs Less

For Thanksgiving, travelers should expect domestic airfare of around $300/round-trip, which is up 23% from 2020 ($245) but down 11% from 2019 ($335).

Hopper said, "fares for Thanksgiving will spike after Halloween and cost about $400 round trip leading up to Thanksgiving. Those who wait until the last minute - the week of Thanksgiving - to book will pay an additional $100 per ticket on average." 

You may have noticedthat prices are higher for Christmas travel than Thanksgiving. (Thanks Santa.)  Hopper recommends booking Christmas travel no later than Thanksgiving. Over the course of December, prices are expected to rise by $230.
