It's been a long hot summer but gas prices haven't been as hot as the temps but they've been slowly climbing. Today gasoline prices in Yakima have risen 4.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.73/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 91 gas outlets in Yakima. This compares with the national average that has not moved  in the last week to $2.34/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Yakima during the past week, prices yesterday were 22.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 3.4 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 9.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 22.4 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on August 14 in Yakima have ranged widely over the last five years:

$2.51/g in 2016, $3.04/g in 2015, $3.86/g in 2014, $3.79/g in 2013 and $3.78/g in 2012.

 

Areas near Yakima and their current gas price climate:

Tacoma- $2.81/g, flat  from last week's $2.82/g.

Seattle- $2.87/g, down 0.6 cents per gallon from last week's $2.88/g.

Washington- $2.80/g, up 1.2 cents per gallon from last week's $2.79/g.
