The latest in Yakima's ongoing gang wars is the shooting death of a 26-year-old man reported on Sunday. Yakima Police Officers were called to the 1400 block of Roosevelt Avenue for a call of shots fired. When they arrived they found the 26-year-old victim, identified as Omar Garcia of Yakima with multiple gunshot wounds.

THE VICTIM DIED AT THE SCENE OF THE SHOOTING

He died at the scene of the shooting. Police believe the shooting was gang related and they're looking for information and suspects today.
Anyone that was in the area of the 1400 block of Roosevelt Avenue at the time of the shooting or anyone with security video of the shooting is urged to contact Yakima Police Detective Matt Lee at 509-575-3042.

POLICE IN YAKIMA LAST INVESTIGATED A DRIVE BY SHOOTING IN EARLY SEPTEMBER

Yakima Police continue to investigate a near fatal shooting reported September 12 near Eisenhower High School. A 14-year-old boy near Eisenhower High School was injured in the drive-by-shooting. Authorities arrested a 15-year-old boy  in connection with the shooting.

THE SUSPECT CONTINUES TO BE HELD IN JUVENILE JAIL

The 15-year-old suspect is being held in the Yakima County Juvenile Justice Center facing possible assault charges in connection with the shooting reported in the 4100 block of Arlington Avenue. The 14-year-old victim was treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was transferred to Seattle in stable condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in the drive-by shooting.
