Former Union Gap Mayor, Jim Lemon, could still face criminal charges for an alleged fight with a city employee.

Action News learned Union Gap police submitted a case to Yakima County prosecutors for review. Officers say they wanted prosecutors to review the case for a second opinion.

Police say Lemon apparently caused harm to a male city worker last month.

Officers say they aren't letting politics interfere with the investigation.

"Any time we have to investigate a crime it's unfortunate those circumstances occur.," said Union Gap Interim Police Chief, Greg Cobb. "Who they are or who is involved is immaterial."

Police tell KIMA they will release a report when a decision is made regarding the charges.

Lemon denies the allegations.
