The Yakima Health District has announced the first case of vaping associated lung injury in Yakima County. A news release from the department says the case is part of a national outbreak. They say they're now working closely with national health officials and the Washington State Department of Health.

No other details were released.

The press release adds;

"DOH and local health officials are currently investigating 20 cases in Washington state. Nationally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported 2,291cases including 48 deaths.
 The only commonality among all cases nationally is that patients use e-cigarettes or vapor products. CDC has identified vitamin E acetate as a chemical of concernamong people with vaping associated lung injury, but does not know enough yet to rule out other possiblecauses. There's still more research to be done, and there may be more than one cause."
