Families Enjoyed 4th of July Celebration at State Fair Park

Hundreds of Yakima residents including many families celebrated the 4th of July at Yakima's State Fair Park on Thursday.

The event started at 12:00 p.m. with a small crowd but eventually grew to a much larger crowd by the end of the evening. The Apple Jam Music contest, a kids area and lots of food and drink vendors were open for the holiday event.

The 4th of July celebration at State Fair Park was almost cancelled this year but was saved by two local companies Yakima Federal Savings & Loan and Tire Centers of Yakima stepped forward to fill the $25,000 deficit left when the city of Yakima decided to stop funding the event.
