Firefighters continue the battle against the Evans Canyon Fire Today which has grown to 69,920 acres. But there's good news. Firefighters say the fire is now 10% contained. More than 700 firefighters made progress against the fire on Thursday. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The blaze started on Monday afternoon 8 miles north of Naches.
Level 3 evacuation notices were issued in Kittitas County on Thursday for homes in Overlook Road, Coyote Run Road and Long Tom Canyon Road. More than 900 homes in Yakima County remain under Level 3 evacuation orders. Five homes have been burned.
Firefighters are asking people to stay out of the area.
