Employee Assaulted In Yakima Restaurant Robbery

Yakima Police are searching for 2 suspects who robbed the McDonalds restaurant at 59th and Summitview at about 3:30 this morning. Lt. Mike Merryman says the suspects wearing masks forced employees to open the safe after stealing money from a cash register. One of the employees was assaulted during the robbery but only suffered minor injuries. The suspects, who did not show a weapon jumped over a fence in the parking lot to escape. Merryman says they believe the suspects had a car parked in a nearby neighborhood. Some property and other items of evidence were found by officers.
