Drug Dealer Who Murdered Teen Gets 32 Years
EVERETT (AP) — A Lynnwood man has been sentenced to 32 years in prison for fatally shooting a high school student and then bragging about what he described as his "first confirmed kill."
The Daily Herald reports 25-year-old Charles Courtney was sentenced this week for the October 2015 murder of Anthony Boro.
Authorities say the 16 year old was among a group of young people who were in the parking lot of the apartment complex where Courtney lived when Courtney confronted them with a handgun.
Boro was running away when Courtney took aim and shot the teen from behind.
A jury found Courtney guilty in September of murder and heroin possession.
The defense had argued that Courtney was in a state of hyper-vigilance after being told that people who had threatened to kill him were in the area.
