Four different design plans for a proposed downtown Yakima plaza are expected to be ready for community scrutiny by July.

Before that happens, though, City Economic Manager Sean Hawkins says the city needs the results of a parking study by a Michigan company.

We’ll have a session with the public in late June to discuss the results and how we can improve our overall parking downtown.

The actual design concepts will be developed after the parking study is completed and then a public meeting will be held to choose a final design. That meeting is expected to happen in late July and early August.

The city will then work to find money to fund the project.
