Have you lost faith in national polling?  How many election predictions do they have to blow before they mend their ways and adjust their algorithms or whatever it is they use to reach the wrong conclusions.  Latest poll to lament -  a new poll has found that trust in the news media is on the rise.

In the Reuters/Ipsos poll out this week  (October 3rd), 48 percent said they had a "great deal" or "some" confidence in the press, up from 39 percent last November, while 45 percent said they had "hardly any" confidence in them, down from 51 percent.

Really?  Based on what? What have you seen from the mainstream media that encourages greater confidence.  I guess if you are anti-trump you can at least give them points for consistency…or is that relentlessness?

Reuters says that looking at it by party, having a "great deal" or "some" confidence in the media rose by 11 percentage points among Democrats, compared to an increase of just three percentage points among Republicans.  I guess you can view this the same way some late night shows and cable news outlets have shown that bashing the President is a growth industry for them.  But step back from the niche and check the overall.  Look at the Oscars and the Emmy’s and the box office and all the other opportunists where liberals seek to woo you with a partisan political point of view.  There the numbers aren’t so great and to my mind, more trustworthy than this poll!

Perhaps it’s a backlash by those who dislike the fact that the President’s defense is portrayed as bashing the press.

The poll asked about confidence in other U.S. institutions as well, and found that Americans had the highest levels of confidence in the military, law enforcement and academia, while confidence fell in the executive branch and Congress.
