A large tire fire damaged a Yakima business on Thursday.

FIREFIGHTERS WERE CALLED TO THE FIRE AT 6:45PM

Yakima Fire Department Firefighters were called to Elite Tire at about 6:45PM Thursday at 1611 South First Street. When they arrived they found heavy black smoke coming from a large tire fire near the building.

28 FIREFIGHTERS BATTLED THE FLAMES

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames that damaged part of the Elite Tire building and buildings of a nearby business, Star Rentals. A press release from the Yakima Fire Department says "the building where the fire began is considered a total loss. YFD crews were able to save the other buildings, though the structures sustained exterior fire damage. Property damages are estimated at $400,000, with another $100,000 in damages for building contents."
28 firefighters responded to the flames even firefighters from the Yakima Training Center were on scene on Thursday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
