Deputy injured Tuesday Shooting Stable Condition Suspect In Jail
A Yakima County Sheriff's Deputy is expected to survive after being shot early Tuesday near Tampico. Deputies were called to a domestic incident in the 900 block of South Fork Road at about 1:15 am.
THE DEPUTY WAS SHOT THREE TIMES
Deputies arrived and contacted a female in front of the home while at the same time a 34-year-old man started shooting at Deputies. One 51-year-old Deputy was hit three times in the shooting. He was removed from the area by his partner who also gave him first aid. The injured Deputy was taken to a Multicare Yakima Memorial Hospital in serious but stable condition. He's expected to survive.
THE SUSPECT WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY SHORTLY AFTER THE SHOOTING
Authorities arrested the suspect without any problems. He's sitting in the Yakima County jail facing assault charges. A press release says
Officers from the Yakima Police Department, Union Gap Police Department, Zillah Police Department, and Washington State Troopers responded to the Sheriff’s Office request for assistance.
YAKIMA POLICE ARE HANDLING THE INVESTIGATION
The Yakima Police Department is investigating the shooting. Further press releases will come from YPD as information is developed.
No other injuries were reported.
