A lot of land is now going to be protected from future development in Cowiche Canyon. That's because the Cowiche Canyon Conservancy has announced success of a Capital Campaign to purchase and protect 245 acres of private land in the Cowiche Canyon Uplands. The goal of the campaign was to raise $1.248,000 by September of this year but according to a news release "in late April and early May, a few large gifts allowed the organization to meet its fundraising goal ahead of schedule."
Conservancy officials say some of the most popular trails of the Uplands go through the newly protected property. The newly purchased land will preserve the trail network as well as natural habitat.
