County Layoffs Will Save More Than A Million Dollars

Here come the layoffs in Yakima County. The county jail is preparing to layoff 21 employees....16 corrections officers and 5 clerks. The layoffs effective at the end of the year are on top of the more than 50 layoffs at the jail earlier this year. The layoffs are expected to save the county more than a million dollars a year. The loss of a 9 million dollar jail contract last year forced the cuts.
