County Coroner Purchasing Human Remains Detection Dog
By the end of the year the Yakima County Coroners office will have a new employee. Coroner Jim Curtice says thanks to a $14,000 grant from Legends Casino in Toppenish he's purchasing a cadaver or human remains detection dog. Curtice says he's working with a company in North Carolina to purchase a Brittany spaniel. Curtice says the dog would be used in cases in which people go missing or body parts are found and he says the dog could also be used to find forensic evidence at crime scenes.
Curtice hopes to have the cadaver dog working in Yakima by the end of the year.
