Cost Cutting To Close Airport Police Station

Tough times call for tough decisions and cost cutting measures are hitting the Yakima Police Department. In an effort to save thousands of dollars the city is closing its airport police substation at the end of the year. Police Capt. Greg Copeland tells our news partner KIMA Action News the closure will save about 25 thousand dollars a year. He says increased jail costs have put the police department 7 hundred thousand dollars over budget.
