Coroner Says No Way to Say Suicides in Yakima Are Covid Related
The Yakima County Coroner says there's no way to know of people committing suicide in Yakima this year have been impacted by the pandemic. But the numbers are up.
So far this year 13 people have taken their own lives. Three people died in March and three people have taken thier own lives during the month of April.
Last year there was a total of 30 suicides. But Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice says only five suicides were reported between the months of January and April of 2019.
Health experts say suicides are common when people get into financial trouble something that's happening to many people around the nation this month.
