Today through June 2 extra patrols are happening in the state of Washington to find people who aren't buckling up behind the wheel. The annual Click It or Ticket campaign involves more than 145 law enforcement agencies including those in Yakima. Officials with the Washington State Traffic Safety Commission say in Yakima County the current seat belt usage rate is 87 percent. Statewide the rate is at 93 percent. They say each year more than 100 people who are not wearing a seat belt die in crashes in Washington State. Most of the victims are between the ages of 21 and 25.
The Click It or Ticket campaign continues until June 2.
