City Exploring Idea of Public Market, Food Business Incubator
Could a Pike Place or Pybus Public Market be headed to Yakima? That will depend on the results of a survey just released by the city of Yakima.
The survey, found on the city's website, is asking residents whether if they would support the idea of a public market that would be combined with a food business incubator.
Yakima's Economic Development Manager Sean Hawkins noted the natural pairing of market and incubator in a press release.
A combined public market and food business incubator is the perfect place for artists, food vendors, specialty products producers, farmers, and other emerging small businesses to meet customers face-to-face, generate sales, and refine their products.
In addition to the survey, there will also be a public meeting at 901 Pasta from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11. The restaurant can be found 910 Summitview Avenue #7. The meeting will be led by BDS Urban Planning & Design, a firm from Seattle, but is hosted by the Food Artisan Collective of Yakima Valley.
