Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon: The Milden Family’s Story
The Milden family has at least twice as many reasons as many families to speak up for the Children's Miracle Network -- they've had two children whose lives have been touched by Virginia Mason Memorial's NICU.
First there was Miila, now 6, who was born five weeks early, and stopped breathing between the hospital's birthing unit and the NICU, where she spent 19 days struggling with apnea, jaundice and feeding.
Then there was Maxen, now 2, who was born six weeks early and was diagnosed last year with transient erythroblastopenia of childhood (TEC), which is a slowly developing anemia. He's also struggled with jaundice and spent 13 days in the NICU. And he's endured an emergency blood transfusion at Memorial's pediatrics unit.
Big, scary words for such little kids -- and for parents, too.
But as the video above shows, the Mildens don't scare easy. They've muscled through their family crises and now they're advocating for Children's Miracle Network's Radiothon this Friday (Oct. 26). We'll be on the air asking for donations for 12 straight hours -- from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and we're counting on whatever help you can give.
Call us at 965-2515 to help out -- or donate online to Children's Miracle Network here. You can even text "KIT Cares" to 51555 on your phone.
