Canyon Mudslide Expected to be Cleared Today
The weather has cause several mudslides in the area. Canyon Road, also known as Highway 821, is expected to be clear be by later today. The slide came after a sudden rain and wind storm that struck Kittitas County on Tuesday evening. No injuries or stranded vehicles were reported in that slide. The mudslide happened in the same area as a massive mudslide which occurred in 1998.
The Tuesday night storm also caused flooding along the Eastbound lanes of I-82. The Ellensburg canyon landslide was the third in four days to close a state highway. Wednesday morning workers were able to reopen state Route 263, where a heavy downpour Sunday night washed mud, rock and debris over the road.
