Candidates Signing Up to Fill Yakima County Commissioner Seat

Yakima County Commissioner Mike Leita is retiring at the end of the year and officials with the Yakima County Republican Party are still searching for candidates.  So far a  of people have declared they're candidates. They are Nolan Wentz, Earl Lee, Timothy Smith, Christine Dimas, Jamon Rivera, Juan Aguilar, Vicki Baker and Amanda Mckinney. .
The Chair of the Yakima County Republican Central Committee Debra Manjarez says if you are a registered voter in District 1 in the county you have until September 22 to declare your candidacy. She says on October 3 the Republican Party will hold an event at the Howard Johnson where they will hear from candidates and choose three people to fill the District 1 seat. Commissioners Norm Childress and Ron Anderson will then make the final choice. That person will then fill the remainder of Leita's seat and then run for re-election in 2020.
