• The Pacific Northwest University of Health and Sciences in Yakima is now seeing the largest incoming class ever.

    This year, the class is 360 students strong. This is double the number of students from last year.

    Students started their medical school journey Saturday with a presentation of white coats to the students.

    Last year the school received accreditation to admit a larger class and completed construction that doubled the size of the campus.

  • Sections of 40th Avenue and Fruitvale Boulevard in Yakima will be closed for road repair and resurfacing starting Monday evening.

    The main intersection will be closed overnight between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. The northbound lanes of 40th Avenue will also be closed between Powerhouse Road and Fruitvale Boulevard.

    There will be traffic controls out during construction periods.
