The intersection of Highway 97 and Larue Road south of Toppenish was the site of an early morning accident that injured five people.

Glenn Fewell, 72, of Yakima and Doyle Wetmore, 93 of Naches were injured early this morning when the pickup trailering a boat they were driving southbound on Highway 97 was struck by a Chevy Suburban being driven westbound on Larue Road by 28 year old Oscar Hernandez-Nieto of Toppenish. The Suburban ran the stop sign at the intersection. Fewell was injured and treated at the scene, while Hernandez-Nieto was not hurt. Doyle and the Suburban's three passengers were inured and transferred to local hospitals

The Washington State Patrol says all involved were wearing seat belts.
