Assessor Says Housing Sales/Prices Are Through The Roof

How is your property assessed for taxation?  What do you do if you feel there's been a mistake on your assessment?  Will your assessed value set the sale price for your home?

These are some of the questions addressed by Yakima County Auditor Dave Cook when he appeared as a guest on KIT's Morning News show.

He also talked about the process of making home improvements or additions, the need for building permits and all that goes into getting an honest evaluation.

His frequent reminder is this - the taxing districts determine how much tax money is necessary, his office just spreads out the request.
